Just Sittin in the Rain

...... as kingfishers catch fire, dragonflies draw flame.....

kingfisher in the rain

but this one,  just likes to sit in the rain.... gettin soaking wet... think he's not " torturing his heart" but enjoying a good bath ! Heh! Heh!

Catching my friend the kingfisher in the rain also brings to mind Hopkins beautiful poem

“As kingfishers catch fire, dragonflies draw flame;
As tumbled over rim in roundy wells
Stones ring; like each tucked string tells, each hung bell’s
Bow swung finds tongue to fling out broad its name;
Each mortal thing does one thing and the same:
Deals out that being indoors each one dwells;
Selves — goes itself; myself it speaks and spells,
Crying What I do is me: for that I came.
I say more: the just man justices;
Keeps grace: that keeps all his goings graces;
Acts in God’s eye what in God’s eye he is —
Christ. For Christ plays in ten thousand places,
Lovely in limbs, and lovely in eyes not his
To the Father through the features of men’s faces.”
-Gerald Manley Hopkins

KINGFISHER ON MY FENCE

On the 12th day of CNY 2010 this friend came to greet me and how glad I was.  As WW said, O welcome messenger! O welcome friend !

Kingfisher sits on my garden fence

It sat quietly on my garden fence as I enjoyed my beads sitting by the window. Looking up I was startled to spy my companion in blue from the forests wild - (shades of WW) HeHe! And so I crept silently away for my camera.

blue-backed and white-breasted

Kingfisher on the fence
By my window deep into beads
Blue companion and me.
